Is alekhine opening beginner friendly?

Black's idea in the Alekhine defense is to tempt White to advance a bunch of pawns while chasing the knight. So, even though Black moves the knight a bunch of times (bad opening play) White also throws principles to the wind by making multiple pawn moves rather than developing. Black hope to then undermine White's pawns while White tries to consolidate their big centre pawn mass. Until you really understand principled opening play, and know how to take advantage when someone missteps, the Alekhine is probably best left to some other day.

No, it’s absolutely not beginner friendly, there’s a lot of stuff to learn and you’ll get slaughtered even at your level if you don’t know it all. That being said, I do recommend learning it if you have the time, it’s a very interesting opening and can make for some fun games if you can get your feet under you.
