Issues as Black.

I'm usually rated around 1500+ or so in blitz games on live chess, but due to my losing streak I'm pretty down on my rating (and confidence). My endgames suck, and I'm not too used to very sharp openings. I also have an odd hatred to fianchettoing my bishops. That's the general info when I play.

As White, I usually have no issues. I'm a d4 player, and I love queen's gambits. When it comes to playing White, my games optimally transpose into this: http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=149517118

As Black, I'm horrible. Against 1 ...e4, I have tried the French and the Sicilian French Variation, but lately I've been having near no success with it. I can't really find an optimal game to show it, but I think it's time I learned a new opening for Black against e4. Anyone have some solid options?

The Scandinavian isn't exactly considered "sound", but if you aren't a very highly rated player, it can catch people off guard. Especially in blitz.

The main line is 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 Nc3 Qa5.

If you want a different type of game, the alternative is 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6, I believe.

Yes it is very difficult to be minority, but I still think it is getting better today!  So you should be happy for that.

Give 1...e5 a look heading into a closed ruy lopez, (maybe marshall attack), or giuoco piano. I'd also suggest giving caro-kann a look. Really it's up to you as to what you want to play, but in addition to Sicilian and French, those two are some of the main options.

I've tried the 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 Nc3 line before the French, actually, with less than average success rates.

I'll give the alternative a shot, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to develop that much if White decides to defend his e5 pawn.

I think the caro kann would be an excellent addition. It provides a solid defensive position that keeps you set until you find your counterplay. It will also be a very helpful long chess weapon because the defense is sound enough that your opponent can take all the time he wants to try and bust it, all to no avail. It also gives you another active bishop that the french openings tend to keep locked away. Also, I would look into trappy openings for black. They are fun and keep my intrest and at the level you and I play many opponents will fall for it and that'll be sure to boost your confidence.

I don't see how the opening makes a difference. At that level, unless you are losing on time a lot, pretty much every game will be decided by a relatively simple tactic.

If you keep this in mind, the best way to improve is to work on tactics while learning how to develop your pieces sensibly. You showed decent form in the game you posted, but the positions after 1.e4 will always be very different from that. You could try 1...e5 and just get your pieces out and castle. If you have specific problems, post the games here and I'm sure the players will be willing to tell you what you did right, what you did wrong, what you could have done differently and/or better, etc.
