King's Gambit

I think playing chess on mushrooms is better than using an engine ") Id rather dabble with "creative chess" = the real technical stuff .

No thought at all came to my mind about how many openings you studied ...

My only win ever against an IM was on the black side of the KGA. I used Fischer's "Refutation" (which came after he lost to Spassky). In his typically-Imperial style, Fischer ended with, "Of course white can play differently, but he'll only lose differently."

This line is covered in John Shaw's book.
Your line:
1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 g5 4.Nc3 g4 5.Ne5 Nc6 6.Nxg4 Qh4+
Continuation:
7.Nf2 Bc5 8.d4! Bxd4 (Nxd4 b4/Na4 +=) 9.Qf3
The position is roughly equal though there are chances for both sides.
Be5 allows Ne2 and white still can win the pawn back. Nb4 is met with Bd3.
Refuted? Nope. Does 5...Nc6 equalize with correct play? Yes.

all I know is I love playing King's gambit as black because I usually win at my level....I'm used to it because every third player seems to use that opening on this site....

after knight e2 I have knight e7 , not knight b4??
blacks resourceful knight needs to be at play with a solid line.

After 8...Bxd4 9.Qf3:
Allow me to quote John Shaw's book:
9...Nb4!?
Petr pointed out that 9...Be5 is well met with 10.Ne2 +=
10.Bd3 d6 11.Ne2 Bb6 12.Nxf4 Ne7 =
The chances are balanced and the result would be decided later in the game.

And "littlefish"beta , says d6 is the best choice for black , after Ne2 , my idea for Ne7 is to keep attacking your weak backrank..
Too bad im a human and couldnt see the better continuation.
Im definitely gonna keep these notes.

Go ahead, but according to GM Martin Petr, white has a slight advantage after 9...Be5 10.Ne2.

d6 is by far the best move after Ne2 , according to the machine.
Ne2 looked unclear to me , so I played the natural knight e7 as a resourceful novelty.

1.e4 e5 2.f4 ef 3.Nf3 g5 - I play only 4.h4 here, having no problems
Boris Spassky, David Bronstein, Mikhail Chigorin, Paul Morphy, Frank Marshall, many of them ... And nowadays, in the period of 3200+ ELO engines, - ask Nakamura, Carlsen, Ivanchuk - ask them why they play King's Gambit, too If it were so simple, just giving the position after 1.e4 e5 2.f4 ef (!!) for a monster 3200+ engine to analyze - and just write down engine's evaluation with "refutation" of King's Gambit - you can guess yourself, none of the modern GMs would play 2.f4
Really nice comparison as for who can see what and who can see more - engines or humans ... There is one more thing - understanding of positions
