The 3...d6 defence is as characterised by many a high class waiting move that can cause problems for white but in my opinion the KG will never reaaly be busted
King's Gambit buster: 3. ...d6
also i think its best theoritically to play 6.Ng1 here
6. Ng1, Bh6 and then i feel black advantage
should be the best, with complicated play. I play this variation as black and one often gets a comfortable position. But 3.Bc4!? is interesting since there are some high class games with strong players on both sides.
The KG is an interesting opening and still a dangerous weapon in the hands of a strong attacking player.
i love Bc4 too, its very complex and leads to very tactical attacking chances

i think i read somewhere that black equalises(but is not better) with Ng1 because nobody has yet developped a piece since white retreated but i dont know if it'e correct....i am not much of KG player,i used to be when i started playing chess but then got to the italian side of chess with the italin game which i like very much...jus saying
white with Ng1 has no material loses except for the pawn yet he has full control of the center for that pawn sac....in my database there were more gm games played with Ng1(189) { around 44% win W 39% win B} while only 8 with Ng5 but i don't know how old the stats are or how trustworthy my database is....
At the highest levels, the King's Gambit is only really played in blitz games primarily because black is thought to have more than an equal position straight from the opening. Black definitely needs to know theory in order to achieve such a position, so the surprise of the King's Gambit, along with its tactical lines, can really throw the unsuspecting blitz Black player off.

i have to agree that at high level u wont see many KG gamees to none ,u whould probably see QG catalan and Slav games or grunfeld for d4 and sicilian for e4
Whats up chess.com?
I'm a big fan on the king's gambit because it always leads to a fun game, even though it can backfire for white if black knows what he's doing. However, I recently came accross this 3. ...d6 variation on the king's gambit, where black can hold on to the f4 pawn with g5 as a solid defender. Found by Fischer, he stated that "...the kings gambit is busted". Check out this diagram and see if you agree:
