Need some advice
For beginning, I tend to suggest 1. e4, e5 with both colours. A little while in, time to switch up. To one classical (I agree with @hptompkins the Vienna's good) and one hypermodern (so maybe 1. b3 which is easy to learn the ideas for) and as Black "Play through master games and see which positions appeal to you". But the Rubinstein French 1. e4, e6; 2. d4, d5; 3. Nc3 (or d2), dxe4 is another easy one to get the outline hang of. Avoid the flashy and for heaven's sake avoid "trap openings" which might give you a few easy wins but won't improve your understanding one jot.
