Open game after 1.d4?

I don't really like playing the close positions which are so typical when white opens with 1.d4. What defenses give me a fairly open game?

I would recommend you the Dutch Leningrad or the Benoni.

When you are an attacking player, you can try the Englund-Gambit 1.d4 e5 .

tarrasch defense is pretty open

Leningrad Dutch and benoni are fine, not that open though. Englund ur just giving away a pawn against a well prepped opponent. Just play the grunfeld. open game and it's fully sound.tarrasch is fine/sound too. Just look at some recent threads to see analysis of the Englund. The Soller for example has some major problems in 4.e4.

Tarrasch defence

Tarrasch Defense, Queen's Gambit Accepted, Slav (main line with 4...dxc4)

The most open ones seems to be Tarrasch and QGA, but Black may appear in bad position very quickly without good knowledge of main ideas and at least some theory.

Tarrasch defense is exactly what I was looking for. The moves are very logical and and it allows me to focus on playing chess rather than keeping up with tons of theory. An IQP is just a small price to pay for that.

Thanks everybody.
