Scholar's mate

given that my standard rating is nine hundred something, i play with people of the same rating. And i have been surprised again and again that how many people don't detect the scholar's mate coming. It has happened to me once and it was so embarrassing that i promised myself - never again. Anyways, I have even had a player whose rating was about 1100 and he didn't notice that either. I personally have won on that opening about 10 times (with people having the same rating as mine). What is your count?

Zero.

I won my very first game on Chess.com with Scholar's Mate.  It hasn't worked since.  Wink

Only once. School tournament at lunch, I needed to get away quick for some reason I forget.

I've never lost to it and never attempted it. I have won using the Fool's mate though.

Twice.

I lost count how many beginners have walked in that stupid trap. Only works against beginners really, so hardly worth trying. I use to bring out the bishop before queen to try and fool them and see if they knew the trap or not, that way if they did and responded well i wasn't risking the game.

i remember i tried scholar's mate with a player whose rating was 1600 something. And he massacred me for that. actually, in that case the queen is in quite a vulnerable position. he trapped my queen by both his bishops and a horse and from that point onwards it was only downhill. but it is fun playing that with beginners because i seldom win games  :)

Yeah. With people I play with in real life. (ofcourse, not agaisnt experts)

Here in chess.com I havn't been so active so it hasn't been common for me at all to do this.
