I hate any openings involving a gambit.
What Openings do you Hate to Play Against?

udinator, why?
If you are the one sacrificing, you should get alot of play for the pawn (piece, rook or whatever).
If your opponent is sacrificing, you should defend and say: Hahahaha, I've got a pawn more than you, I'll win the endgame.
The marshall gambit is drawish

I don't like the French as white- the Qb6 can give me problems in the advance. Maybe I shold exchange the pawns.

It just tends to make weird positions on the board, which is something I am bad at dealing with.

I hate to play Nimzo Indian. :D
Play 3.Nf3 instead and play a Queens Indian or a Bogo-Indian there a bit easier to play for white. I play the Petrosian Variation of the Queens Indian, and 4.Nbd2 lines of the Bogo-Indian

why would you hate to play against th scandinavian, its absolute garbage for black.
How is it garbage for Black? I think the Scandianavian refutes all 1. e4 openings.

I hate playing against the scotch gambit, i always seem to get totally wiped out in this opening, can't figure out a way to equalize it or beat it yet!

The Dutch, or any mirror image fianchetto (or mirror image in general) but the later mostly because it feels weak and copy catish.

It gives up like 5 tempos.
?? lol you dont know what your talking about

A frank and open exchange of views...
The Scandinavian used to be considered dubious, then Anand got great positions with it against Kasparov and people had to start taking it seriously. Check out Sergei Tiviakov's results with 3..Qd6 against high quality opposition if you think the opening is 'garbage'.

Says the 1703 in online chess. Online ratings are incredibly inflated compared to the rest, thats probably around 1450 blitz, so ur almost 500 lower than me, I think I know what Im talking about more than you do.
lol your goin off some chess website rating system to make a point lmbo dude my OTB is way higher the games I play on this site I barely take seriously . I 'd say your understaning in chess might rival a 1500 OTB but dont get your hopes up a regular 1500 even where i'm from are less ignorant so id give them the edge

My otb rating is still higher than the one you say you are, but i doubt your an 1800 judging off your rating on here.
so someone still in the 1800s think his rating being highers means something to me hmmmmm still laughable but I will change my assessment you knowledge might just rival wait for it .... a 1600 player!!! Honestly play people higher rated than 1900 on regular basis so I could care less that your ALMOST 50points higher rated

Dude both you guys ratings are in the 1800s so whats the point of mentioning this your both still low Class A's where you trying to make a point

I really don't understand the concern about the scandinavian. It is a perfectly viable opening and if played right dismantles typical 1. e4 ideas. Sergei Tiviakov did a wonderful video series on it, so labeling it as "garbage" is certainly not representative of its true potency
I think the issue here is correct play. Loses like 5 tempos? Please. It may lose like 5 tempos if black is foolish enough to play Qe5+ or Qe6+. Once I see this I know I am in for a relatively easy game, just because my opponent will run into some very tactical tricks later.
If he plays Qa4 like he is suppposed to, I know I am in for a tough game.
I hate playing against openings I have never or rarely played against before. Especially in OTB tournaments.
