Maybe the Muzio Gambit?
Which is the best opening?
Hi!! The answer to your question is... there is no best opening. When you think about it a single opening can't beat people here and there because opponents can play different moves to your opening which can end the game in different results. There are some aggressive openings and some openings that are subtle. You can learn openings based on your type of style. But let me tell you that there might not be a best opening, but once you learn one it improves how you play drastically because you are looking at different position in chess that you never came across. This is from personal experience. The last thing I wanted to say is openings can confuse opponents, so try to learn various ones and see how it goes. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I hope this helps. ![]()
Depends on how you like to play. I like an open center, so I play the Reti. Folks who prefer a closed center will usually play 1. d4. Anything without a known refutation can be played, and it's often just as good to specialize on something unusual (the ace of my high school chess club got excellent results with Bird's Opening, 1. f4) as it is to study what is popular. I know another player who just plays the Orangutan (1.b4), to fairly good effect.
Your results will vary, of course. Stronger players will know more lines, and be more mindful of traps. However, a good opening for you will play to your strengths. If you get good results with the bishop pair, you shouldn't play the exchange variation of the Ruy Lopez (though it's perfectly good for white). If you are good with rooks, play a gambit opening which promises open files.
Some guy on Quora had an interesting response. I remember it being some line in the queen's gambit, if both sides did best play.
Best opening for white- Latvian Gambit
Best for black - Jerome Gambit
They are both forced wins for the receiving side of the gambit
hey I learn now the Jerome Gambit!
Your opening choice should depend on what you're most passionate about! For example, I played the Colle System for a long time, simply because I really loved it. Sure, it objectively may not cause horrible problems for Black, but since I enjoyed it, I was able to squeeze a lot of wins out of the opening. Play what you love, not what others tell you to! I discuss this in greater detail in my "Road to NM" YouTube video. Check out the channel if you're interested.
