I presume it's white to move - no reason to resign, Nathalie.

TheBishop35

I can't see any reason to resign Nathalie. Did someone resign in this position against you?

Vease

Weird, I assume white has just played Nxf5 but I don't see anything disastrous for black if they take it.

I once had somebody resign after 9 moves 'because I'm bored'..Smile

Robert, how are you ploying Nf5-g6?

If black resigned: He had to go

If White resigned: He had to go, or he saw that the knight was trapped, and found out that playing further would just be stupid.

White isn't losing a piece - Nh4 to g6 (after g5 forking the N and B), and then if he rook moves, can take f8 and escape on e6. If white only saw Ng3, then it does look as though a piece is dropping.

if he bored why play game with me???

but thanks for your opinion

Could be for a reason that had nothing to do with the game itself. A resign is a win--enjoy it!

Lately, I've been giving my opponents a lot of the same kind of enjoyment.

Vease

People resign for all kinds of obscure reasons, the guy who resigned because he was bored had about 70 other games going on so I doubt the result mattered to him that much..

Just look at it as a free point!

Out of interest what were you going to play if he took the Knight?

waffllemaster

why resign??????????

Why not??????????

He could win a minor piece if he continued. People resign for a lot of reasons. You don't know what's going on with his life. He might be bored or he might has another reason like an emergency or something like that.

Personally, a friend once wanted to annoy me so he resigned me out of a game that I was playing. See? Just forget about it. You should be grateful for those freepoints.

I had a very similar thing happen to me last week on another site, Nathalie. I asked my opponent why they resigned and didn't get a response. Sometimes people just do things for their own mysterious reasons....

It is like why somebody gets upset with you. Perhaps his cat died. Perhaps he has to go on holiday. Perhaps he was tired of chess.

Don't beat yourself up on why people behave as they do. We all have ups and downs.. It is just a game.

The pink chess board probably drove him over the edge!
