Yes, that is!!!

When I was your age, my rating was only 950. Now, at age 14, I am 2270 USCF. You can become at least NM with some work.

That's like saying "I think 10 is a little too young to be listening to the Rolling Stones."

"should"  presumes that there is some absolute that applies to us all. There is not.  Every "should" needs to be qualified with an "if".

So I can say "if" you want to achieve such and such then you "should" [do such and such or, in this case have such and such a rating at age 11]

Using "should" without qualification is usually a sneaky trick that people use to impose their beliefs and opinions on others (and often they don't even know that is what they are doing).

1400 USCF for a 10 yr old is generally considered pretty good.  I think the average for that age is 1200.

(*cough cough*) it's way lower than that. Many 10 year olds don't know how to play chess.

I wasn't 1200 when I was 10. More like 1050 or so. So I was 150 points below average?

HMMMM......

I’m 11 and my rating is around 1500 on chess.com. Is that bad?

Rapid 1500 is quite good, at least good enough to do well in some otb tournaments.

Thanks!

A massive population don't know how to play chess, so I suppose you are above average.

IF you really are 11, stop using the internet and go play wiffleball.  You are almost toast.

I rarely have played 10 minute games here. 3 min is my favorite. And you should play bananaball, as monkeys love bananas.

It’s fine for many scholastic tournaments, though you should have a lot of room to improve. With some practice I’m sure you can get to at least 1000.

You most certainly can at that level. Me, being a teenager at 1750-1800, is done for. Not you though.😀
