If an event in the US is strong enough to attact grandmasters, it will be rated by FIDE. USCF ratings are for weaker players.
whats with many of the top grandmasters and USCF raings?

If they played in things like the US Open they would have a USCF rating, and in the olden times players like Larsen would show up for such "big money" tourneys.
Maybe Lone Pine was USCF rated? Not sure, but it drew lots of big names.
Nowadays USCF is wholly ineffective and can't draw flies to its pile of...well you know.

(Personal opinion below, and does not necessarily represent the views of chess.com management or anyone else with authority or insight.)
National federations always leave something to be desired, the USCF included - perhaps exemplary, indeed. But equally obvious is the fact that demand for competition (an alternative to the USCF) remains insufficient to generate one (and then you'd have the issue of getting recognized by FIDE).
The de facto competitor to USCF-sanctioned events is now basically limited to online fast chess. While this venue is fantastic - and is obviously spreading interest in chess, it will forever be plagued by it's inability to stop cheating in realtime (in my view).
(Perhaps I'm wandering off-thread here. Oh, well.)

Why is it that some top GMs haven't got the rating with Cayman Islands chess federation ? Give a break.

Yes, it's worldwide in the same way that the World Series is a worldwide event.
Best answer yet :)
Face it, the US ain't the center of everything...
i highly object, i live in the US and it is the place where you get a new start and has the most fairest community, plus what ever big thing the US does, other counrties happen to know about it

This thread obviously doesn't have anything to do with chess does it ?
Whats with many of the top grandmasters and USCF raings? I wanted to see how good some of the best players are and if they are rated higher than 2900 in USCF, i typed in their names and player not found appeared. Many of the top grandmasters including Carlsen all don't have USCF ratings only FIDE. I myself find that very interesting saying that they never played a game in the US that was USCF rated? Others like Karpov have a few (2 to be exact) USCF ratings.
