Who is better Kasparov or Anand?

Kasparov  was Carlsens coach so my answer is Kasparov  .

To be honest, I've always wanted to see Anand try to play in Chigorin's style, I think Anand's tactical brilliance would be much more apparent if he did.

I do think Kasparov was a better player at his peak, but Anand is the only World Champion I've ever seen that I thought didn't play to his strengths effectively.  Anand's peak tactical depth was at least on par with Kasparov's, but he avoids complications to such an extent that he rarely gets to display it to any decisive effect.

Kasparov and Anand are both great players, but I'll have to go for Kasparov in this one.

I suppose you could make the argument for Anand if the question is "Who IS better....NOW." But if the question was "Who WAS better" then the answer is clearly Kasparov as their face to face match for the high stakes wasn't even that close. Or, at least it didn't seem so. Also, the statement that Anand is better "ANY time" is not accurate at all. 

When just about the only people who are supporting a player are from the same nation, nationalism can be blamed for a person not being objective.

By every objective measure, and Anand’s own admission, Kasparov was better than Anand.

For people to continue to make the counter argument in the face of overwhelming evidence, either they are trolling us or they believe in a delusion.

Kasparov started before , his peak was at a different time. 

Anand played kasparov when Kasparov was at his peak. It is completely unfair to say Kasparov is better. We dont know what would've happened when anand was a 5 time world champion. By then kasparov was long retired. So no , you cannot say Kasparov was better.

They are both legendary. Where perhaps Anand was positionally a touch stronger, Kasparov was just stronger in attacking and had more creativity when it came to finding breakthrough moves.

Gary is my favorite with a firm third place behind Magnus and Fischer.
