Who is better Kasparov or Anand?

Kasparov  was Carlsens coach so my answer is Kasparov  .

To be honest, I've always wanted to see Anand try to play in Chigorin's style, I think Anand's tactical brilliance would be much more apparent if he did.

I do think Kasparov was a better player at his peak, but Anand is the only World Champion I've ever seen that I thought didn't play to his strengths effectively.  Anand's peak tactical depth was at least on par with Kasparov's, but he avoids complications to such an extent that he rarely gets to display it to any decisive effect.

Kasparov and Anand are both great players, but I'll have to go for Kasparov in this one.

I personally think this is a dumb question. Kasparov is the greatest player of all time (yes better than Fisher). he maintained his ranking for 22 years and the only 2 years he was not on top when he stepped away in 1993 and 1994. Anand is not even his league let alone compare them. If you shed your patriotism aside the answer is very simple and unanimous. Anybody who calls Anand better than Kasparov is having too much cow cola.

the only people calling Anand better are actually indians. if you shed your delusional and leave ur patriotism aside. Anad and Kasparov are Not even in the same universe. Kasparov is undoubtedly the greatest player of all time. While NONE of the the major publications or sources even puts Anand in any top 10 list. None.

I suppose you could make the argument for Anand if the question is "Who IS better....NOW." But if the question was "Who WAS better" then the answer is clearly Kasparov as their face to face match for the high stakes wasn't even that close. Or, at least it didn't seem so. Also, the statement that Anand is better "ANY time" is not accurate at all. 

When just about the only people who are supporting a player are from the same nation, nationalism can be blamed for a person not being objective.

By every objective measure, and Anand’s own admission, Kasparov was better than Anand.

For people to continue to make the counter argument in the face of overwhelming evidence, either they are trolling us or they believe in a delusion.
