Well, Gukesh is "simply" one of us. Gukesh does not have the highest rating in the world. Gukesh is stronger than us, fine, but he doesn't deserve the title. Only those with the highest ratings in the world deserve the title, right?
Not Gukesh, because he is one of us, and therefore why Gukesh "yes", and us "no"? This is why players like Gukesh and Ding are, and have been, hated when they have become world champions.
It's another form of jealousy, a subtle envy.
