I it would make the hole game more interesting if you had to think in 3 Dimensions, doesn’t it?

There would be a lot of pieces.
Rook moves to cubes that share a face (6 directions)
Bishop moves to cubes that share a corner (8 directions)
Bishop2 moves to cubes that share an edge (12 directions)

Including those, there are 7 possible combinations of those to make different 3D rooks, bishops, and queens.
