- self-capture and seppuku are allowed
- castling is not allowed
- so there's need for the rule that the king must be between the rooks
- each side gets a total of 4 minor pieces of random colors and random types (bishops vs knights)
- each side is independently randomized (8 choose 4)*(2^4)*4*3 = 13440 ways, so the total number of starting positions is 13440^2 = 180 million
- world championship format is 100 games at G/60 no increment
- in the event of a draw, the player with more time on the clock wins
