infinite chess is just the entire set of games played on a limitless board

That's an idea.. I really love how infinite chess like rolls off the tongue though. Someday this will be made more versatile too so you can play other variants on top of the infinite board

I'm imagining chess inception, where on the infinite board you have multiple, maybe 64 8x8 games going at once, arranged in an 8x8 mapping, all separated by void squares. When you win one game, you get to hop pieces over the void to assist on other boards or something!

a variant where you play on a 8x8 board, and each of the pieces are 8x8 games itself, has been thought of

but this is cool

what if we have 32 games of 8x8 chess, each on a square in the infinite board (arranged in a 4x8 formation) and then once a game is finished, the winners pieces are returned to their original spots and can help on other boards

like, each turn i play a move on every board, then you do

then once a board is finished, during my turn (if i won it) i must also make a move there; and only these moves can go inbetween the boards, and maybe i can also retreat to my board but you cant!

also no draws in any of the boards, just shuffle there and wait for reinforcements! (unless both sides have insufficient material across the whole boardspace)

and also, kings cant switch between boards

there ARE infinitely many possible moves in basically every position

Exactly, a computer will be a heck of a challenge. I'm hoping I'll be able to receive help from another developer for accomplishing that eventually.

alpha0 style might be the only way (with bias towards center as i remember you saying way before)

just a suggestion but wouldnt it be cool if there was also a duck piece in the board editer?

Definitely very intriguing, I do have an idea, could you make it so you can find lost pieces by clicking a "find queen" button? Would be really helpful! Thanks for reading!
