The point increases are the bonus for the hybrids. Theoretically being a mix of two pieces should make them stronger than if the pieces were seperate (i.e. a queen 3+5+1 extra point for a worth of 9 points)

HorribleTomato

I agree with witch and unicorn, but Archbishop Chancellor Queen and Dragon will likely not be changed unless the community agrees on it.

winston_weng

Quick update it tomato! I need all the advantage I can get!

winston_weng

I think unicorn should be 5, as the 2 knights are probably better than one unicorn.

HorribleTomato

I'll lump those balance changes in with the Update 20 patch. I like releasing updates every 5 to keep it streamlined, and I will probably add some more balance changes with it.

HorribleTomato

VOTE- Which piece should be added into the game on the Update 20 patch?

Zombie

Bulldog (Reworked to be viable for this game)

Dwarf

and I don't think I'm ready to handle time thief yet.

HorribleTomato

The bulldog rework would allow it to be a primarily defensive piece.

It would cost two points (maybe 1.5 i dunno), be able to placed next to any friendly piece anywhere on the board, and have the movement of a pawn. It is transparent to any friendly piece. Once reaching rank 100 you can put it next to any friendly piece anywhere on the board.

So what you’re saying is that one hybrid piece only takes one tempo to move, while the pieces separated would take more? That’s why it’s  worth more?

Ok. That’s fair, then.

Dragon might need point value tweaking though. I'll see. In Nav's game it's listed at 17 and I think I have it at 18 points here.

I vote dwarf, I'm not sure what a zombie does, but I really like the dwarf.

hitthepin

I vote for dwarf as well, although I think in Nav’s version, it cost too much. It’s price should be lowered here.

HorribleTomato

The dwarf is a nightmare to balance, as you can just drop it in like a nuke in any spot which has only one defender.

Ya its tanky, but very slow so the king can just run away.

HorribleTomato

I guess it's basically decided. I'll add dwarf at 9 points at update 20.

Chess_Condor

What does the zombie do?

HorribleTomato

ZombienullInvented by @Junebug444 (Z) - Slides up to two squares in a rook's direction (cannot jump). The zombie can not capture pieces, but "scares" enemy pieces with fright instead. All enemy pieces within its attack range are frozen and cannot move. Pieces remain frozen until the zombie moves, is captured or blocked. A king may move into the line of attack from a piece immobilized by a zombie. Likewise, a king may move out of the range of an immobilized Time Thief safely.

Chess_Condor

Ok, not a bad piece but I like the dwarf.

Chess_Condor

Is there a piece that speeds up pawn promotion time? Or a piece that could generate energy. I think a piece that wasn't for attacking or defense but rather long-term gain would be fun to use.

No piece that speeds up pawn promotion time or energy generators.

Ha, maybe a 12 or so point stationary piece that generates energy over time
