Yesterday 8/27/22 there was the first Splatfest of Splatoon 3, the only day when everyone could download the demo on Nintendo Switch and play for one of the three teams: rock, paper and scissor.
While resting, I explored the game map, and among the various buildings, shops, bars and clubs, I found a small room with a chessboard and some pieces on the table.
When I first saw the chessboard, it looked like a Xiangqui-style chessboard. Even the pieces are moved on the lines and not on the squares, like Xiangqi and Janggi.
About the pieces it's almost impossible to know their moves, but at least we can discover the starting position. Every piece looks like a domino/mahjong tile, with a symbol and two faces: white and black. Every player has 10 pieces, in total 20 pieces to play.
Here there are other screenshots I made to see the captured pieces.
I'm looking at it since hours and studying it to understand the rules and the starting position (about moves it's impossible, maybe). What do you think about? Any idea?
