No matter how, it would be very convenient if, indeed, the brackets also display the colors (top = White).

I added white and black boxes to display colors in the latest diagram.
I say - put white on top and leave out the boxes - makes it easy
I won with white, drew with black
Right, I forgot you played 2 games. Let me rewrite those rules:
If the value of white - black games are equal among the players, the top player plays white.
If the value of white - black games are not equal among the players, the player with the lowest value get white.
So, in your case:
Auk: 1 white, 0 black. 1 - 0 = 1
You: 1 white, 1 black. 1 - 1 = 0
Since your value is lower, you get white.
Sounds fair?
Always using the top player = white means ry would would have white all games as long as he is in the winners bracket. Does that sound fair?
If ry wins, then I want the rules to make ry black, patzer white. Then after 2 rounds both players would have had 1 white and 1 black game.
If we go with top always white, then ry would be white.
Some statistics regarding colors:
In 264 rated bulldog chess games:
127 games ended with white win (48.1 %)
125 games ended with black win (47.3 %)
12 games ended in a draw (4.5 %)
Always using the top player = white means ry would would have white all games as long as he is in the winners bracket. Does that sound fair?
Ignore me - I am not getting the complications
I can't design the bracket in a way to always have white on top and try to give players their preferred colors at the same time.
I don't think top player is the best way.
I think either lower rated chooses, or coin flip.
Or just let the two play a game of rps (PMd to the mod, which means they can show proof (screenshot) if a player is rude enough to think the mod was biased)
@vickalan placed people in the bracket. Some matchups in the first round done by request and some depending on the order people joined the tournament. @vickalan can probably respond better how he decided to place everyone in the bracket, like whether any randomness was used.
The original bracket was set up to separate the strongest players so that they don't knock each other out in the first round and can possibly meet in the final. If players by strength are 1-8, then the tournament was set-up like this:
1 vs 8
4 vs 5
3 vs 6
2 vs 7
But some players entered then quit, and Ry and McGoohan wanted to play with Spirit, so I put them together, and I didn't check some of the new players elo scores, so the final bracket was only an approximation of the pairings above.
Btw, thanks for everyone's help on deciding who plays white, and especially to Martin for posting updates to the bracket and setting up the losers bracket.
When do 2nd rnd games start?
Are both you and thegreatauk ready? Two games I've been moding have finished, so I can mod this starting Friday (7/19).
