Why does everyone hate Battleground Chess?

Battleground Chess is too controversial.

Just read about it, and I hate it - "Why" you ask - because the manual says, "Guards have no class". Being a supporter of Guards Union I am offended that the game maker not just misunderstands them but denigrates as well.

I suspect a large problem is the name.

At a glance, "Battleground chess" seems so far removed from chess that you should remove "chess" from the name.

As a rule of thumb, if checkers is substantially closer to chess than your "chess varient", you should probably stop calling it one.
