I thought it was quite challanging and fun.
White has 4 pawns c, d, e, f and King e1
Black normal set up
The variant is White has 2 moves each turn to Blacks 1
Theory says Black should win but it proves very difficult.
The White King is a Monster. Having two moves and can move through check it's difficult to checkmate.
Also, the White King can capture the Black King, along with any of the four pawns. A capture of the Black King, with White on the move is checkmate.
Thus if the White King is only one square from Blacks King and is on the move, White wins.
Monster Chess
Is this variant played today? It was popular in the 70's and 80's in So. Cal. but have not seen it mentioned on the internet.
