We must be careful though if we give too much artificial intelligence to the machines they will rebel lol

Some of them are already revolting.

Lemme give it a try.

4 spots for the first Bishop (light sq's)

4 for the second Bishop (dark sq's)

6 spots for the Queen.

5 spots for the first Knight

4 spots for the second Knight

Since these N's are not distinct, we divide by 2

R/K/R occupy the remaining three squares in that order, so we leave 'em out of the probabilities.

(4*4*4*6*5) / 2 = 960

Is this mathematically correct?

your implementation is quite different and it has naturality in it.

Sorry, I know this hasn't been posted in for a week, but I only thought of it just now.

ichabod801, you said you had a starting position with only the Kingside R and B swapped. There is a big difference in this from the starting position, though!

Consider 1.e4 e5. Normally 2.Qh5 is a bad idea- 2...Nc6 and Black simply developes and gets a fine game. However, in your position, h7 is also hanging because the Rook isn't defending it, so in fact 2.Qh5 forks the pawns! The Sicilian is refuted in the same manner.

An interesting idea for Black would be to try the French, 1.e4 e6. This sets the clever trap 2.d4 (the normal move in the French) 2...Qh4 with the same fork! This means that White is forced to play a weaker French, like 2.Nc3.

As you can see, even the smallest change in the starting position can change everything. Just something to think about! Wink

Who in the world has enough time to list all the fischer random positions!?!?

 Let me start

I need a life :) All positions to the bottom of the page when scolled all the way up on my screen. (I'll chip away at the rest later, if you add your own I will duplicate them)

xbigboy i liked your effort of showing variations, you have showed around 18 variations.

We cannot trace all the 960 positions at one time we will repeat the variation.

It would be an lifetime achievment if anyone have post all the variations without the help of any software or any other techincal devices.

sirdavid, you have posted other form comment to this form Undecided.
