Tournament Summary - Chess on an Infinite Plane

I'm just announcing that the challenge by captaintugwash to Naviary (World Champion) ended in a draw. The circumstances of the game ending can be seen at the end (of this thread).
Naviary has decided to take a hiatus from chess, and will be involved in other work for the next few years of his life. This means more-than-likely he will not be present to defend his title.
Since Tug earned a draw against Naviary, future players for the Title must demonstrate that they are at least equal in strength to Tug. Currently no games are planned. If anyone wants to consider a game against Tug it can be discussed here.
Btw: I don't know for sure who is interested in playing, but in addition to Tug vs. Naviary, it seems like Ry, Gyrados, and myself have all played fairly recently (or are playing now), and showed some strength. AsC14 also defeated me, in a game which included some inaccurate play from both sides. (did I miss anyone)?
I should also say that if nobody can defeat Tug, It's possible that Tug can play against Naviary again. With Naviary in absentia, a ceremonial handoff of the Title from Nav to Tug is possible. But we are quite far from that happening I think.
Finally, final decisions on this matter are decided by the (infinite-chess-federation).
I would certainly prefer to earn the title by winning, rather than having it handed to me. It's pretty much out of the question for Nav to hold his title for 2 years without playing, so we'll need to do something.

If I'm the champion when nav returns, I think both myself and nav are happy to resume our "drawn" game as a title decider. We only drew it off as he is leaving soon and neither of us have a clear advantage. That's a long way off though.

Martin isn't interested, sadly. He's got other priorities.

I would say you'll need to beat Vic. If he beats you, he surely deserves a shot at it ahead of you. That's just my opinion though, it's obviously not up to me who gets to play..

The next tournament (with Ry, Tomato, gyrados, and me) is being discussed (here). (at end of game).
A four-player candidates tournament is being considered, maybe like this:
[[Game-1]] vickalan vs Ry
[[Game-2]] Tomato vs Gyrados
The tournament winner (X) will then play captaintugwash. (Tug has the distinction of drawing against World Champion Naviary).
Then the winner of (X) vs. (Tug) will then challenge Naviary for the title of World Champion.
Please leave comments here if each of the four players are available to play.

Tomato, can you confirm you'll play? (see post #274) Tug obviously wants to know who he's going to play, so I think these games should start. I'd like to set a date of July 12 as the latest allowed start date.
I'm ready for my game, and I can mod the other game too. (this is near my limit of playing/moding but I think I have enough time, although I might play slow).
I haven't seen Tomato. Should we give him a week, and if no reply, we select the next-most-qualified player for the tournament?
He did make a post in post #271.

Yes, I sent him a message on July 1 (and again just now). Btw, post #271 was May 27. It seems he has been gone for a month. I don't want to exclude Tomato, but Tug deserves to know who is the best of 4 (which he will then play). Tomato, where are you? We might have to look for someone else to play.
