I thought it was a good example. If Hikaru is considered better at bullet than Magnus only due to the fact that he's played more bullet games, then that would automatically mean Daniel is better than Hikaru (disregarding all evidence pointing to Hikaru being better) if we viewed it that way. It's basically the same thing you're saying, and I don't really understand it.
It would probably be different if Magnus had only played like 20 games, because that isn't enough to have an accurate rating, but he has played 1,200 games. That's enough to have an accurate rating.
