yes for me chee.com is better than facebook
True-that.
yes for me chee.com is better than facebook
I would love to see a chee.com (I love androids!), but chess.com I like!
There's something wrong here. I mean, the biggest internet chess server (until now) has under 30,000 members, while chess.com has more than 80 times this number?

It's called "free membership" to play, read articles, use forums and mingle with Master-ranked players.
Try doing that on playchess and ICC without the need for a credit card.

chee.com? Yet another social networking portal?
Great achievement by those actively involved in making this cite the best chess site on the net.
But don't let the stats mislead you.
My first year University Professor wrote on the board-
fibs
white lies
damn lies
statistics
...then, went on to explain that this was the order of "untruths".
The point is, that total figure includes inactive players, closed accounts and members with multiple accounts...so it really does not reflect the total number of individuals actively participating on the site.
...this being said, I still feel that chess.com is the premium chess site on the net.

there are a lot of websites called [a name]chee.com
google chee.com and see the results of google
Very cool ! Nice job, and I have to add...I just got your iPod Touch app for chess.com and use it a LOT. Very well designed. Very useful.
I look forward to the day when you tell us you have 5M members.

How many of those are active members? In the stats I see no more than 0.5 million players? I have also played like 300 greeter games and maybe 2 in 100 actually went all the way. There is normally not above 4000 players live -
I would agree... lots of members on this site, but only a fraction of them are actually active... I played 30 greeter games and 3 games went 7 or more moves. (1 was fully played) But either way, I <3 CHESS.COM!
Congratulations on this excellent milestone.
Chess websites, like great Empires, will come and go but in their day they will enjoy the support of the people. With 6 billion people in the world - 10 million chess players seems like such a small number and so achievable.
In observation to comments above: as a new member to chess.com last week I accepted a 'greeter game' but then aborted it to play 'Live Chess' as the Greeter 3 day time frame put me off. As a newby to the site but not to chess, I left the greeter game and went straight into playing live. The assumption of 1<3 shows some shortsightedness. The numbers speak for themselves. While my personal chess rating is low, my understanding of business and website traffic says that if in 3.5 years you have attracted 2.5M people interested in chess, something is going very well.
Long live chess!
Well done! And also, very good iTouch app. Shame that only 1/6 of the people on it have completed a match though.
Keep up the good work, and the site could soon have 5 million members! I'll be suggesting it to people in my chess club definately :)
Congratulations! I am a very satisfied member.
</sarcasm>
Now if I can get just one of those 1.5 million teenage girls that join just to post pictures of themselves to accept one of my challenges!
</sarcasm off>

But 2.5M has the truthiness of success.
I would echo the comment above.
Money isn't everything.... but I would be interested in knowing how many of the members are premium members. How many actually support the site financially, which means they are more likely to stay active, and that the site has the support necessary to incorporate the sorts of improvements we have enjoyed recently.
Love this site.

If someone would have told me when we started Chess.com that we would ever have 2.5 million registered members, I would have laughed a hearty, scoffing laugh.
But there you have it - 2.5 million members in 3.5 years time. Unbelievable!
The correct name is accounts, not members. I think you can create 1000+ accounts here without no problems, try to do that on FICS.
Chess.com is one of the best chess sites, but when it comes to true statistics they fail a lot, one example is that there are now 493.482 players in the live standard pool, LOL, I think that around 460.000 of them have just played one or two games in that pool.
The best part of a chess site is accurate statistics.
