A suggestion for unrated games

Let's kick this idea around for a moment...

If a game is unrated, it would be nice to have a "request take-back" button. If pressed, the opposing player would be given the option of allowing/disallowing the take-back request.

This feature would be beneficial for games where one player is teaching the other. He/she could explain that a particular move was a blunder and the other player could then take back the move and continue learning. This would be especially powerful if you could rewind several moves (to explain why 14. Nd4 becomes an issue on move 18).

This is easy for me to suggest since I know absolutely nothing about writing the code that makes it possible. :)

It would be good for use in coaching games to help good players teach weaker players

Great idea. It allows the players to explore various alternatives.

In that case, I would like to retroactively request a take-back for all my moves last night.   never play chess exhausted at work!

Thank you in advance. Muah ahh!

Great idea!!

And why not a "request-for-take-back" even in rated games?

The ratings are, in one way or the other, "unreal" - as some use outside help like books and computer softwares while playing. (PEACE)

It's still a good idea to have a "request-for-take-back" in rated games, too. There's nothing to lose anyway, and nothing wrong with it as the take back will only happen upon the consent of the opponent. So why not?

I support only TAKE-BACK for unrated games,  due there isnt a real chat when you are talking about a move.

I had problems asking for moves with experienced players :(

I'm ambivalent about allowing take-backs in rated games.  While I don't see it being that big of a problem if it were allowed, I think there might be some value in trying to ensure that ratings are as "pure" as possible.

At other sites, I've had games where I granted an opponents request to take-back a move only to have them decline my request later in the game.  Chess rage ensues.  Limiting take-backs to unrated games discourages that kind of nonsense.

Maestro Gonnosuke, thanks for pointing out that angle wherein a player granted a take back may refuse a similar request from his opponent later in the game. I missed that one, thus I'm changing my stand for it. Take-Back-Request only on unrated games then.
