Truth be told, you might want to consider changing your user name, Matt. If I had to guess, I'd say it's kind of on the bubble.
I would if I knew how!

I have gone to the altar and prayed, let's hope it works!
Everybody - this issue ought to be dropped.
a) people can close their accounts on their own
b) no, of course chess.com won't "explain" to you why other members accounts were closed
c) sheesh
/common sense. Here, have some.

Here's how, courtesy of my friend Nilbert:
1. Click "Help" below your page.
2. Click the Frequently Asked Questions with a blue "?" icon.
3. You send your message to the Staff, stating 3 new usernames, and the reason why you want the change. (My reasons were for simplicity, easier to remember, and lower profile.)
4. They send you replies to your email if it's accepted or not. Mine took just a few minutes, or perhaps an hour or so, to be changed. All things intact except for the username change.
There is another site I play at that does just that, explain why an Acount was closed that is, for example breach of terms of service (TOS) at the site in question rule 3a, 3b or 3c and produces a banned player list.
Ultimately (unless requested by a user) it has to be because the Account was in breach of the terms of service, which we all know and read when joining , so shouldn't need to much help in adhering to them, but would be of interest I have to agree to know the rule that was broken on any closed Account......
How do we know you're not an imposter!
;o)

T'would take a sad soul to impersonate me!

Not any more they don't. The list has vanished.
Member Account Closed
Sorry! This member's account has been closed.
If you feel this was an error, please click here.
I got this message when I checked out "The_pLeisure_Sisters's" account as I was wondering why it had taken so long for her to make a move in our game.
Can anybody shed any light as to why members accounts get closed off like this?
i've had that happen to me twice. the first time i was kikked off for swearing and general innapropriateness, but i promised to be good so they lemme back. the second time i had all three of my accounts closed for that damn multiple account thing. but i pleaded to get tim restored.
That's useful to know as most people, like myself, have no idea what the rules are.
And sometimes, it's just so hard to resist being bad :-)
I hope my account doesn't get closed - how would I be able to tell.
I'm on dodgy ground though, either through having multiple accounts called 'Account Closed' or through impersonating a closed account!
Lovl,(laugh out very loud), now that's funny. you really made me laugh but maybe you won't know, how funny you are if your account_closed.

Yea, so it has. Wonder why, I don't hink it's a must have but not sure it does any harm to provide such a list, interesting.

Yes I'm 1/16th Irish and I find it hard to behave!!
I hope it's the best 16th :-)
I am also quite interested in this topics. I was very much enjoying enjoying playing against one particular member. As I was getting ready to challenge him to a new game, I was most surprised to find out that his account "had been closed". He had only joined two days before, so I doubt he really had had the time to open multiple accounts and he most certainly did not use inappropriate language, as far as I could tell. And one cannot cheat at chess! I wish I knew what wrongs my infortunate friend had commited to get himself kicked off the site. I am not familiar with the rules enforced by chess.com, but could someone kindly explain to me just what is meant by having multiple accounts and why on earth one would wish to do that?
