Yes ,i feel the same. Lack of confidence If it's in early stage
Are people who exchange queens scared players?

I generally like to keep my queen, but will trade if the opponent is playing too strong and aggressive with theirs. Best to just get it off the board. I also trade if I think I can get some other advantage, like a trap or better position. I sometimes do it to set up a rook and king fork or something.like that.

When pushed into a defensive position, it's considered a good strategy to trade pieces and thus, take away your attacker's strength. Trading queens can sometimes be used to make the king move and thus, eliminate the possibility of your opponent castling.

Another occasion might be if I am significantly up on pieces. I might seek to exchange queen or rooks to leave the opponent defenseless. Then I can clean up and attack without much opposition using my other remaining pieces. So there are many reasons why someone might do it.

I have played so long on chess.com that I essentially have picked up on a common trait in most players and it is indeed cowardice.
The queen is the the most powerful piece on the board, by a long shot. It's not even close. So, what most players seem to have a view of is: get this scary piece off the board, make sure your pawns are lines up and trudge and slag your way to a queen with your opponent queenless.
It is almost universally American to immediately try to get the queens off the board.
Your opponent seems to position threateningly with the queen? Race up to him queen to queen or better yet, check with queen supported by a pawn and simultaneously check the queen and in the forced exchange you have advanced a pawn toward becoming a queen.
I know most chess played are probably nerds and just this sheer yellow bellied mentality is just so apparent.
Kudos to all the chess champs out there with highly technical good reasons to exchange queens , but at the lower levels, it's just a race to create a glorified Checkers game with a race to get queened! It's pathetic really.

I was watching a video on YouTube (Pragnandan vs a WGM), and in that the narrator (who is also a very professional player) said when you have lead in number of pawns (like a 2 or 3) then start exchanging material

😂 many a game I’ve had that scenario and would say alright the gals wiped off the floor, let the game begin! lol

I'm sometimes scared my chances will be lower with the queens on board, and so I try to exchange queens, sometimes in a nearly equal position.
How’s we a 3 day 960 unrated?

white gained from trading queens
Instead of the Queen grab why didn’t you take that free pawn while your Bishop was strongly set to cause mate with your queen?

Old thread, but ... how about just: don't allow a queen exchange, if it bothers you so much?
It's like that old joke, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this!"
Doctor: "So stop doing it."

Why do people play the French Defense against me? I find it annoying and I will exchange queens if you don't play an more suitable opening.

I'll play you if you like. They started me at 800 and I wondered why since I was around 2000 in Daily. I played 17, drew one. I wanted to take a break and then try to get up to 2000. I could use the practice.
I think the only way we would be able I to send one to you is if you’d in settings alter what’s accepted a challenge. Even it to be unrated it’s still needed for some strange reason. Just two days ago I attempted to create a challenge to a friend, unrated, but they had their settings accepting lower ratings than mine. So if you make it set around to my rating I will be able to send the challenge. And would be happy to frequest given that’s necessary for it to work, you only could be my friend in my opinion. =)

It is impossible to know what your opponent is thinking.

What? Ok.
Your opponent seems to position threateningly with the queen? Race up to him queen to queen [cut]
This is one of the best ways to counter an attack. If you can't keep your queen or the attack going, then you either never had an attack in the first place, or you simply did not play well.
I know most chess playeds are probably nerds and just this sheer yellow-bellied mentality is just so apparent.
Ok.

Isnt it objectively either just good or bad? At my level when theres a queen trade its to revoke castling rights the majority of time.
i will trade Queens to keep my castling rights and take away his. Seems like a smart thing to do.
