I can never really see the avatars too well, myself. So, I use something a bit easier to see and remember, my polka dotted black bow tie from a London black tie event. Actually, to me, this clip does sum up my personality in many ways.
i used paint.net to combine a .jpg of a pos. in one of Kasparov's games with a .jpg of a mastodon for my name to represent an elephant of the chess board- presumably myself(?).
just an image i picked up online(always wanted to be A WIZARD).i guess im a wizard of shipping/receiving?

I picked mine for symbolic reasons. The twin towers still stand in the minds of many Americans especially New Yorkers who have spent many years looking at it daily. I cannot count the times I've gone up there, taking friends and visiting relatives to see the view from the bottom up and top to bottom. Now, it stands forever on an ethereal level. Its destruction became the servant of its life.

Mine is two-fold: 1.) I'm a Doctor Who fan. I loved the 2005 season leading up to the discovery of the 'BAD WOLF'. 2.) The wolf best describes my personality...affectionate and caring within close-knit circles, or relentlessly pursuing those who's crossed me.
I just searched 'Bad Wolf' in my internet browser. One of the links lead me to a treasure of different avatars as a result. ~The Doctor

A picture of the member seems to me the right choice.
How do people pick their avatars? I'm a bit boring - I simply use a photo of myself but I've just changed it to a new photo to celebrate getting to 1000 points.
I've seen some cool avatars on chess.com. Does anyone have an interesting story behind theirs?!
