It is great that you've decided to start playing chess, and very unfortunate how some guys treat women in the chess community. Don't let that discourage you, though. Keep playing, and you will get better!

Pegusu

I had just taken my opponent's queen early in the game and she called me a "dirty Republican" and that I thought I was "really special." I told her that she needed to get professional help.

Thanks. I'm just pointing out that there is a lot of misogyny in the chess community which is probably the biggest reason why not enough women play chess. We all need to do our part to make chess more inclusive. Let women play without making them feel uncomfortable or like they're outsiders. Women on this site should not have to hide their gender. And women should be able to play in OTB tournaments without being sexually harassed or told not to dress nicely cuz it "distracts the male players".

I agree. Even at clubs or scholastic event settings, Ive seen this kind of thing is often a problem.

I think the chess community is making an effort at change, hopefully over time this stuff will no longer happen.

For those that get accused of cheating, ur opponent is complimenting ur abilities. Only if u weren't, of course.

So going to an OTB event, wearing a bikini top and booty shorts might not be my best choice, lol.

I think you should get to wear what you want, but yeah that might be a little unwise unfortunately

Temporary_Closed-backsoon

Lol
