Blocking Members Manifesto

Sounds like you want to block at least 10!

AndyClifton

Actually, no more than a couple (he is after all rather Spartan).

SPARTANEMESIS

For the record I don't want to block anyone.  As someone already stated there may be those with multiple personalties/profiles here, so someone may be a major troll with one personality, and cleverly friend someone they don't like with another; the intent being to manipulate them in one fashion or another.  I really don't like manipulative people.  Usually I ignore them.

See, that's just how I looked before the Betty Ford Clinic!

SPARTANEMESIS

Where'd everyone go?  Other than a few comments from Netzach and one from PhoenixTTD it really seems like I'm talking to myself here.  That is on this page and the last.

Crazychessplaya

Let's get back to the mysterious question of how one gets to have their master title revoked.

AndyClifton

I agree!  That is a most fascinating topic indeed!

Although before 2002 it was perfectly acceptable in the US...indeed, de rigueur.

Ah, but are we allowed to even mention such a touchy subject in a public forum? Shouldn't such discussion be forcefully confined to a hermetic, private group administered by subject matter experts? The pen (or the keyboard, nowadays) is mightier than the sword, and in consequence words should be used cautiously and sparingly.

There is a coinspiracy underfoot to prevent people from talking about NM revocations. Some think it was done by the Cubans, some think it was the mob. Some think it was the KGB. Then, there is the LBJ theory.

We can all agree, can't we, then it was definatly not a lone revoker?

GenghisCant

I heard it was Billy D Williams

netzach

Thought it was A Tudor?

Ubik42

It was Bigfoot.

It appears the question I should be asking is are we not allowed to mention the subject on the public forums?

No one sent me a memo about it and as anyone who's looked at my profile knows I'm not a part of any groups.  As this is truly my only profile (I tend to speak the truth) I have no idea what goes on in these private forums.  I'm not entirely sure about the word being mightier than the sword.  I imagine whoever said: "The pen is mightier than the sword," wasn't too skilled with the latter but I forgot who said that line years past so I cannot be certain.  I'll speculate that if the answer to the question I asked at the beginning of this post is not allowed, there are a few other items that should also be not allowed.  Actually maybe more than a few, and I'm willing to state them for anyone who wants to listen.

I'm listening, spill your guts.

SPARTANEMESIS

I'm sure you'd like that.  Anyone else?

bigpoison

Hey, Athens, what's the handle on your other account?

SPARTANEMESIS

Were you talking to me bigpoison?

I would, that's why I responded to your open invitation.

Now make good on your boast or I'll have to consider you just another blowhard.

SPARTANEMESIS

Allright DoggyStyle first let me inform bigpoison (assuming he was talking to me) of the following:  I do not have other accounts (although I'm guessing there are some people who would like to take credit for mine) and I don't appreciate the implication.

Doggy_Style I presume you want to hear of the items I said should not be allowed.  Here are three:

1)  I don't think members should be allowed to change their names ever; or acquire an old member's name.  Granted there is the possibility some may leave the site and come back with a new name.  Some of you who are reading this may think it a minor issue, however I believe the most cunning of the trolls can cause some serious problems simply by changing their names.

2)  Multiple profiles/personalities should not be allowed or at the least: limited as much as possible.  Of course you cannot prevent those who would be classified as clinically insane--or sociopaths, given the oppurtunity--from becoming members and the reason it should not be allowed or limited is basically due to this fact; there's a little more to it, but not much.  I'm aware you cannot prevent someone who is really intent on having multiple profiles, yet I suspect there is some way to get better control over the current predicament.

3)  No editing old posts; only deleting should be allowed.  Or editing old posts should be extremely limited (and if so), those limitations clearly stated when a member attempts to do as much.  The most cunning trolls have used this to serious advantage and I've noticed.

I have a couple more suggestions but they're not suitable to the forums.  I am quite willing to hear anyone's opinion who agrees or objects to what I've said in this comment; however I think anyone who objects would be wise to provide a good explanation as to why?
