If your are not an admin, you can go to the member page and click on the arrow on the search box, without entering anything. The resulting page allows you to sort via a drop down.

A lot of sites use a standard set of fonts that are more visually pleasing to the eyes.

Pleasing is a subjective term. My eyes require serifs for their happiness.

As far as sans-serif fonts go, FB's is less irritating.

On any game, look at bottom right for two arrow buttons around text like "5 Ready Games." The buttons will allow to jump directly to your next (or previous) ready game. (You won't see this control at all unless it's your move in more than one game.)

Where is the alert for my emails? At least 4 weeks has gone by without an alert yet and I had 14 or 15 emails in that time.

I'm not gonna read thru all 20 pages of this to see if this has been asked already (it probably has) but where do we update our status?

HOME (top right) / ACCOUNT / ONLINE SETTINGS / scroll down to MESSAGE FOR OPPONENTS / enter new status / SAVE SETTINGS

...Or just leave a Note on your own profile/home-page.

It depends on what you're trying to do. As it stands now, Status is really more focussed on providing a Vacation message for your current opponents.

Wanted to quote you there Michael, but at the moment I have to keep quitting my browser and emptying the cache to be able to successfully quote, every time virtually now. Didn't have that issue before.

I get dropped a lot of notes on my profile so any note I left would vanish in no time.

When I am on vacation I do say in my Status I am away on leave or something similar.

But in the meantime I have fun with it. :D

P.S. Big thanks for creating those 2 trophy suggestions of mine ('Great Job!' and 'WOW! trophies). I've been using them a lot! SmileSmile

It's just the Beta design group. I'm pretty sure anyone can join it, though you might have to be approved by erik.

I play close attention to group-membership & am aware membership of this one declined partly due to some members having their accounts closed for cheating at chess.

Some of these were well-known figures around the site & presumably prior to banishment were actively contributing feedback within this group ?

Now the new interface is upon us why not open up this group so any members can join to examine what was discussed ??

chess_kebabs

I couldn't get why the NEW DESIGN FEEDBACK group wasn't Open. Not sure if that setting has been changed since I joined it  but I found it odd that members  needed to apply there and wait, and not be able to give instant feedback.

Not a big deal Babs but just a little concerned that only around 275 were consulted on a site of this size ?

Surely that is far too few...

I  can randomly quote it seems.

Sorry, Aidan I didn't understand what you meant. 275 were consulted to do what? To join the group? I only found out about the group because someone dropped the link in Chess Nuts notes to say where we could give feedback. But it's no big deal when Erik is reading all forums and notes created, both in that group and also public forums.

Strange about the quoting!... I haven't heard that elsewhere yet (but I've been on vacation).

For what it's worth, Status does still show on the "About Me" tab of the member profile... perhaps it should be editable there as well. Will look into it.

Glad you can quote !

Probably going to need it !!

Am presuming there is technical-problem in retaining '' Status '' ?

This was well-liked popular feature on the site.

Not sure why it remained closed but at least initially erik was looking for people with specific skill sets. The second call, about a month later, for beta testers, was via the site messaging system; I don't know how many people were included or what the selection criteria was. I assumed everyone was invited since I was already part of the group and got it.

Keeping it private at that point might have been to manage a potential influx of bug reports, though that is just a guess on my part. Not sure why it would still be private now.

Okay & thanks for reply.

Unfortunately some of them may have been chess-cheats though ?

people with specific skill sets

It might not be still on private, only admins can tell. Doesn't really matter anyway when Erik and staff are answering or writing tickets for bugs/issues reported in the public forums as well.

Sure, it is possible. That doesn't really impact anything does it?

Sure & not a big deal either.

When something is improved or redesigned, whether that is an item or an inteface, the soundest approach to use is a staged introduction with every alteration reversible in case of flaws/bugs.

Millions of dollars of spending lie in ashes of projects where this was not done & the new sytem failed to function as design/intent.

Though not the case here & I would have done as chess.com has with a ''suck-it-and-see-approach'' . Implement the thing & iron out difficulties after. Am only seeking to ensure that anything not working properly will get fixed.
