Morning all!
I really don't think there is very much chatting during GM games, usually, unless its a bad move. haha I've seen Kasparov's videos and he seems to be mumbling something. :) Quite funny
I actually asked this question to a few IM'a I've known, and they both say the same thing, they say hello at first then most of the time remain quiet, and just look around between moves, if not at the board. The men make it a point not to look at the opponent if its a woman. (haha)
As for me, I usually greet them, and if its a live game with short time, I don't say much accept a few remarks about the game. If my opponent ask me something, I usually answer, and if I feel like talking, as well as the other, we do! Of course, it does depend on my mood how much.
Life is short..I think we can enjoy both. :)
What do you do while playing chess on chess.com? Do you go into games with chat already disabled? Do you like chatting while playing games? Does chatting distract you? Are you usually worried about who might try to abuse in order to distract you? Do you discuss moves while playing? Do you mind your opponent asking why you played a certain move either during the game or after the game is over?
What is the rule in real chess games? Are the GMs allowed to talk to each other during a game?
