Can we not?
until a Tibetan( is that what they are called?) actually is offended bc if you aren't from Tibet then you shouldn't be speaking for them.
It's not about offence, and it's not speaking for anyone else, to say that since Chess.com has flags for several contested territories, and some places that are not considered countries by anyone, along with assorted micronations, it would be reasonable to expect the flag of Tibet to be on the list too.
For reference, Chess.com has flags for, amongst many others: Basque Country, Catalonia, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Palestine, and Western Sahara.
We should all follow the example of Sonja Graf who, in the 1939 Olympiad in Buenos Aires, played under the flag of Freedom (Libre).
adding the tibet flag means chess.com is againt china, chess.com is no politics
By analogy, would you argue that Chess.com is anti-Palestine because it has the flag of Israel, and simultaneously that Chess.com is anti-Israel because it has the flag of Palestine?
We should all follow the example of Sonja Graf who, in the 1939 Olympiad in Buenos Aires, played under the flag of Freedom (Libre).
I'll take the flag of Esperantujo!
if Tibet should have a flag then Assyria should also have a flag, as well as the Kurds and Artsakh
pointless asking for this.
Dolly Llama
The Chicoms would block the site if Tibet were represented.
I was once part of a group called "Tibet is part of China, always was and always will be" or some such. I was campaigning for greater awareness of the situation of Tibet, using my activist Facebook group, "The West Meets China" which, back in the day, was active and influential.
In reality, there was a time when China was part of a Tibetan empire.
In another thread asking how many flags people had accumulated on their 'passport' in chess.com it was established that there are 237 flags to collect. However, officially there are only 195 nations meaning chess.com has recognised 42 places which are not full nations by allowing a flag of representation.
Oh, let's get political.
