Chess.com Feature Request and Wishlist #6

Yes, that way it would be much easier to see how much have tournaments (that you're still playing in) progressed. Grey background for tournaments that you're not playing in anymore would be great. But those that you withdrew from should be removed from the list completely, or they should at least have darker tone of grey.

I'd like to be able to save an overriding set of chess.com preferences locally (in a cookie) as I like the large or regular boards when I'm on my home PC (or any other) but need the small boards specifically when I'm on my netbook.

I also need the small boards when I'm perusing the forums from my netbook so I'd still like my preferences to (optionally) take precedence of the board setup chosen by the person who posted the enourmous board that I can't view....

How can you do that?  If it's a cookie then if he changes it, it'll change yours too.

I would like the following things:

1. Tournaments with limited vacation time

2. An option to make my profile invisible for people who are not logged in to chess.com

What's the point of your second idea?

It would be a cookie that's specific to my choices.

Can we have tournaments automatically progressing to next round when the players going through will go through reagrdless of final games, this would speed up torunaments (the games could still progress at the same time as the next round.)

I don't like the idea that creepy old men can have acces to my profile and my personal information.

I agree with #1, all or none is just too restrictive.  A cap other than zero should be an option.  In conjunction with better time control options I might actually be inclined to participate in a limited vacation tournament.

But if they log in then they can see it anyway!!

Perhaps removing the personal information from your profile is a more appropriate tack.

some people just don't want to have their personal infomation shown. thats all.

Avatar of TheGrobe

And instrusive questions like those are unlikely to convince them otherwise....

Incidentally if you don't want your personal information shown the best thing to do is to simply not publish it.

If you want it shown but only to other users that you've approved to see it then you should create a group in which you can manage the security and publish them in there.  This is probably the best workaround given the current setup.

As an extension to the original request, it would actually be good to have the ability to flag individual aspects of your profile as either public, protected or private:

  • Public = Everyone can see them whether they are logged in or not
  • Protected = Only logged on users can see them
  • Private = Only those in your "friends" group can see them

Another workaround is to write your personal details in code, and only give the key to your friends*
"Me and you of course Darling, Field Marshall Haig, and Field Marshell's Haig's wife, All her friends, her friends servants, her friends servants tennis partners, and some man I bumped into in the mess last week named "######""

I like it if I know against whom I'm playing. So I also post my personal information, so other chess.com players can see against whom they're playing. So for me it's okay if members see my personal information.

I think if there's only one possible legal move that an opponent can make, it should make it automatically for him/her. Kinda like a conditional move.

That doesnt make any sense..they have the right to use their clock how they please and if they want to spend it looking at their one legal move so be it.  If you want play to go faster go play live chess.

Avatar of Lord-Chaos

it does make sense... but oh well. ill let it drop, its a minor thing.
Also, when you want to change ur profile, you can click "email" under My Home,
but thats not so clear, so can you change it to "my profile"? You can get there via "My Account" too, but i would like it on the drop down menu. A minor fix. But maybe email is very important too, so you can have "My Profile (Email)", but that would indicate basically only email, so then you have have "My Profile" AND "Email", both leading to the My Profile place. Kk thnx.
