I kow chess.com is cool and all. But some things bug me about it. Well it's about the messages. It won't let me see my message. Also some other things when you go to live chess.

I don't really want to go into details but, there isn't nothing bad about the site completely it's just some things I think they could of done better. Well give me what bugs you about the site and maybe they could fix it. Comment down below.

The fact that they are perfectly at ease with folks who abandon games.

What messages aren't you seeing? I'd be happy to look into it for you :)

The fact that I can't easily find any list of who the staff are and their positions and any description of their positions(who are the staff? What do they each do? How many are there??). For all I know one of them could be given the job of feeding erik and I wouldn't have a clue.

The moderation could do with a speed boost every now and then. The reporting system does not feel user friendly nor efficient at all. Every other forum I've been to at least made it more user friendly to do it rather than

"ugh I need to find that dang reporting to support form again"

"Was this thing so big the last time I filled it out?"

*a few minutes pass...*

"Oh shoot I need to go! Oh well, didn't care much for that form anyways."

If you would like an example of the site I think does reporting/moderation the best then it would be teamliquid.net.

Here are some screenies of their reporting. Users must be registered for 1 year before they are given a report button so they don't overly abuse it. Users found abusing it get warning(s)/temp-ban(s)/report button removed.

Some of these reasons obviously don't apply here, but that's why this is an example. Also, the report button is placed like so on Team Liquid:

Again, these are all just examples of what my experience in many forums has shown to be the best. Team Liquid has thousands of users much like Chess.com and this helps.  If nothing else, it would be very nice to see more posts deleted faster and less
 ...being completely ignored.

Thank you for your time.

I don't understand your example. 5 threads started by the same guy, who s probably not a GM.

I mean that rather than just leaving those there clogging up the forum why not delete them or close them and move them to a "trash" or "locked" (or "captured" if you want to use a chess term lol) section?

the GM part is just circumstantial.

well, I do mean to ask, couldnt they put a search threads thingy in there so you could look for a specific thread if you wanted to on the fourms.

There is one below Post New Forum Topic.

He's a GM, why does he have problems during the opening?

Who knows. I went back to page 25 of the Openings section to find these again. They are all just some game puzzles of the opening starting from a position. No context given, same title every time so you can't figure out which is which easily if you were to try to help him. No moderator even did so much as change the title or tell him something along the lines of:

"Hey, you should improve this topic in X, Y, and/or Z way. This is so a discussion can be had relatively easily here without users being confused as to which thread is which. If you choose to follow these directions and need help changing the title then just message me which new title goes with which topic (copy and specify for each link). I will be forced to close these threads if you fail to follow these directions

Obviously, this is rough and could probably be easily shortened but again, it is just an example. I make these suggestions as someone that has modded forums and chat rooms elsewhere in my past video game experiences. The lack of modding here is scary at times as the forums are left a mess as I went searching for these topics on page 25 again I found that in more recent pages more (and at times more numerous) examples have made themselves present.

relevant stuff might be nice once in a while, though i cant seem to find any.

My biggest problems have to do with awful moderation on the forums (having entire posts deleted for advertising when I was simply offering to share chess flashcards with everyone is one example), terrible graphical options for the chess board, and the live chess board not resizing to take up empty space on the screen.  Other than that, it's pretty good.

not having to sift through useless garbage would be a very nice ability. it would be like a superpower here, and very useful.
