Curiosity Killed the Bat...

Since the turn of the New Year there have been about 2 dozen Articles published on chess.com.  Of those 24 articles, maybe 6 were instructional or non-fluff pieces.  Most of those were written by the incomparable GM @gserper, but even he hasn't published in nearly 2 weeks - if fact not one instructional article has been published in 12 days.

This makes me curious as to why Articles is located under the Learn icon in the side menu.

No.

Definitely... the most interesting articles are from GM Serpe and IM Silman... your articles are also legal... because they search historical facts!!

Sadly, Jeremy left here nearly a year ago. I agree that his and Gregory's articles were among the most instructional.  Now the Article section has become a waste of bandwidth.

My opinion is that chess.com generally is going in a way where quantity is ahead of quality.

But, fortunately for us who came later, there are a lot of old articles of two already mentioned writers. And we have also nice blogs, I recently read two wonderful blogs from simaginfan about c.c.

Firstly, I agree with your first sentence. Much of what is on the site now is thrown together in minutes, or self promotion material. There has been - in my opinion - a general 'dumbing down' of late. ( That may be due to the recent increase in the number of members who are basically beginners.)

Secondly, many thanks for the kind mention, and well done on finding my old articles. Appreciate your going to the time and trouble to do so. Cheers mate!

Great point! What reaction to your post have you gotten from chess.com?

It also makes me wonder why the December 29, 2020 Peter Doggers article about “fashion” is considered learning material. It’s blatantly sexist. How does Capablanca’s wardrobe compare? I do thank you for leading the way though, I’d forgotten the many great resources to pursue.

Apparently, that's the type of garbage they now prefer.

There's a lot of content there.  Look to the past because the future looks bleak.
Past: Lush Rain Forest
Future: Martian landscape

Or as Don (American Pie) McLean sang:
My past, a persuasive illusion.
I'm watchin' the future.  It's black.

Ahh, “no days you can borrow, no time you can buy...” Thank you for the advice!

I don't know about that though

Your argument is compelling.

Especially since they still don't have a chicken sandwich category.
