Sorry Erik, that was not a pop at yourself.. but my flag isn't controversial, and if you look at any 'world' sport body, you will see it flying proudly. Examples -
http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/countries/association=63/index.html
and
http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=nir/index.html
It is up to yourselves, but it really isn't a controversial flag.. just the flag that represents my country within the UK and the World.
.. the Union flag is not the flag of GB, it is the flag of the United Kingdom (as in it is made up of the flags of England(St George), Scotland (St Andrew) and Ireland (st Patrick) :)
GB is just England, Scotland and Wales, and 3/4 of the country that is the UK ;)
Just to clarify for our American friends (I can see why it might be confusing):
"Great Britain" is a geographical term. It means the "Greatest" (ie largest in size, not highest in quality) of the British Isles. This is the island containing England, Scotland and Wales.
"The United Kingdom" is a political term, and the name of our country. In full it is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."
Not all citizens ok the UK understand this properly, so you shouldn't feel bad, Erik.
