I don't know about that? I've heard about the Cheater_1 person for years. Kco would probably lament the total disappearance of this Musascha person. I'm sure Macer would be a part of more people's memory than we can possibly imagine if he were to leave. Chess.com peeps sometimes actually enjoy having those types of personalities around, I think

That's you.  You are a regular poster.  Most of the forum users (by quantity, not volume of posts/replies) are occasional/casual and couldn't give a hoot about any of the trolls.

@Ronald: I'm pretty sure I contributed to some of those accidents the past two nights... of course, so did the next bar they went to after mine...

But getting back to your main point, and probably the main point of this thread. One thing I wouldn't be for is separating paying and non-paying members, as well as playing and non-playing members, as far as who would get the "privilege" to post in the forums. I actually think the members themselves already do a lot of the monitoring of the forums by either ignoring people, or making fun of people who are here soley to annoy, so I don't think I would change much of anything. But that's just my tiny opinion:)

RonaldJosephCote

Macer is much younger than myself and Trysts, but somewhere in this thread, ( I forgot which post #)  macer said; "what would I DO with a gold membership?"       Oh, I don't know; maybe improve your chess, since your on a chess site 24/7.

trysts

How do you know how old Macer is? I thought he was like Dick Cheney's ageLaughing

RonaldJosephCote

Trysts;  I'm sorry if I struck a nerve but, how many people DON'T post because of all the nonsence here??  (no pun intended).  I made my living by driving for 20 yrs. I saw a lot of those people go in & out of court like you & I changing socks.  On the up side; I won't be posting that much in the future, because NASCAR is starting up again.

possible trick question.

.

And out of those, how many are merely blamed on liquor, when it in fact was never a factor? Just for political reasons?

RonaldJosephCote

Its not a trick question. I'm just saying the problem is BIGGER than what we want to see, like Hoffman's over dose. In the 80's it was cocaine, in the 90's it was meth, now its heroine. We are good at self medicating. And the problem with the forums, are sometimes bigger than they appear.

trysts

@Ronald: Well, hopefully we can all find a little corner to share our interests. And we can all get to know who we like to read and who we don't care for. I don't know. I hope more people will come to the forums in spite of not appreciating everything posted. I mean, it's crazy and ridiculous sometimes, but there are serious and interesting people too! I hate to see the fun and interesting people leave, but I keep reading the new people because they may be cool:)

RonaldJosephCote

BTW;  Macer is nothing like Dick Cheney; If Cheney doesn't like you he'll just shoot you in the face, and call it an accident. I didn't like Cheney when he was Secretary Of Defense, and I don't like him now.  I like Macer.

RonaldJosephCote

Trysts;  you'll get NO argument from me with post #112; AGREED!

Oh, I meant Dick Cheney's age. But if you want to know if he has Dick Cheney's political views, then I'm sure Macer will be happy to tell you about it. He's pretty up front about stuffWink

Anyway, I think he's two years older than me--isn't Macer75 born in 1975?

I like Sisu's suggestion :

A new member can only read forumthreads in his first week , but can't post on it. After this period , he can have full rights to post or start a thread of his own.

This thread topic is entitled:  "Forum Nonsense"

So... the topic of discussion is all of the Nonsense on this forum?

Great!  So now, not only are there foolish thread topics posted, OP creates a thread topic as a homage to the foolish?  That's a wonderful idea because creating a topic to discuss nonsense is not nonsense in and of itself huh?

Ah! I can see what troubles you now. You clearly do not understand that my post is given in all seriousness, promoting a suggestion for site improvement.

I believe that you've come to this conclusion because you've not read the thread, or suffered a complete comprehension failure.

Either way, may I suggest that you try again, reading carefully, and looking up any words that you're not sure about.

So... the topic of discussion is all of the Nonsense on this forum? No, recapper. General nonsense in all topics.

You're pretty dense. I'l try to spell it out for you. OP did not create this topic as an homage to the foolish, as you state. Rather, it is a quite incisive topic that shows, quite clearly, some of the idiocy that pervades these forums, as evidenced by your post.

Ziggy_Zugzwang

I think having a "nonsense" thread on  chess.com is like going on Jerry Springer and arguing that there should be less trash TV Smile

This is the kind of filth that is ruining the forums. Maybe think of the children before posting, Caligula.

LoekBergman

The nonsense doggy_style is referring to has nothing to do with the normal threads on chess.com, but the abnormal threads, which all people consider spam.

Who is waiting to see threads on new passports or pay tv? It is not even off topic.

@Ziggy_Zugzwang: nice analogy, but totally missing the point. A better analogy would be that the audience of Jerry Springer is asked to shout for David Letterman. David, David, David.

Where would c.c be without macer75??

Your estimation of Macer's effect on...well, anything...is highly suspect.  While I would be glad to see every troll/sockpuppet banned, I don't pretend or imagine that any one of them makes much difference at all. It's the aggregrate.

If Macer (and his sockpuppets) disappeared tomorrow he'd be largely forgotten by March.

+1, but Macer doesnt have sockpuppets
