Hey guys...I'm new here.  I want to know how to use the board editor to set up a scenario and then play that scenario against the computer.  Is that possible?  Or does anyone know of other sites you can do that on?

I don't believe it's possible to set up an arbitrary position, and then play against either a human opponent or the computer.

Then Why is there a "set begin" button on the board editor?  isn't that to set the starting point of a match??

I found the feature on a different site, but their site has issues and doesn't refresh the board properly while playing.

The Game Editor is for creating a game that will be displayed in the forums (on in a blog). I'm guessing that Set Start Position refers to the initial position that will be displayed (although you can probably manually scroll back through the game history to the start of the game). Similarly the End Position will be the position the game will stop at - if you use the autoplay option.

I reckon it's a method of encapsulating the interesting part of the game.

If there's not a way to play the position against a computer here, I'm fairly sure I've seen a site or two where you can do that online. Another option would be to use any number of free chess playing programs such as Crafty. IIRC Winboard is a free interface that would allow you to do that with Crafty. The learning curve isn't all that bad.
