You kids seem to act surprised by this age old keyboard trick. (Of which there exists many). The recent perps were clearly amateurish, easily detected by a simple click on their profile. The old masters of deception, would copy entire profiles, activity history, ratings etc., etc., necessitating a discerning eye to detect different accounts. Oh, the games that kids play, to whither the time away.

so a capital 'i' and a lowercase 'L' look the same on the default font here. that has led to a lot of account spoofing. latest victims & perps respectively being:

perhaps chess.com, when checking for unique handles during account creation, should match these letters and cases accordingly and prevent creations of such accounts; or use a different font which differentiates between them.
