In game chat

What's happened to it? It has disappeared from my games today.

Sometimes it's useful to be able to talk to the opponent

I came here to ask this. It used to be at the bottom and I could keep an eye on it while playing. Useful for checking rating when starting a game.

Now I have to press a tab. I have an wide screen monitor. If anything I'd like the extra space to allow things to be more visible at once rather than hidden.

Hmmm...the ratings aren't showing in the theatre mode either. I was pretty sure they did. They do show in non-theatre mode beside the player name. There's plenty of space so I wonder why that's gone.

update: I see it comes back if the game is aborted

It's more hidden now. You can switch between a section that shows the moves or one that shows the in-game chat. I like this change because it makes it easier to focus during the game without having to mute the chat. I prefer to keep my chat open but would rather not read messages while I'm in the middle of the game. Now I can open messages after the game finishes if I want to say anything or see if my opponent says anything.

when you say you can switch, do you mean you can switch back to the old format?

They really enjoy pushing against chess being a social game... I understand chess players are globally known for having awful social skills but why push it and try to make it true?

I don't think it changed but I never rly use it. Check where it used to be probably.

no, you can switch between a display that shows the move notation or the player chat
