Sigh
The current state of the chess.com forums sucks

TL;DR:
The forums are toxic and I don't like it. We can't do much and I'm pessimistic.
I completely agree. There are many trolls, who do things that are actually harmful. Many trolls are for fun, in a joking manner, and I'm completely fine with that, but for the trolls who want to actually do damage, mentally and physically, there's not much chess.com can do, except banning/muting them. :/

It's sad.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't in the middle of most of the conflicts going on. I have enough haters in my everyday life and it makes it so much harder. I'd quit forums if I could but it's an addiction. Have you seen how many people swear they won't come back, close their account and then a few days to weeks later they're back?

You suffered a state of Overexposure so members lost interest in you. It happened to me too 😎
I don't care about popularity I want to hear what others think

I know, right. I miss the days when you could make forum posts about Hikaru Nakamura's on-stream diarrhea incident. Now they censor that kind of stuff. smh

🤔 wait what

So many threads about trolling in here. One more and I just might quit the forums. I have recently been told by someone that a certain club with a troll blacklist has been telling people to hate me, and I have been labeled as a troll. As I said before I was muted, I wish it would just stop.
When I first posted on the forums wayyyy back in 2019, it didn't seem like anything was too off. Maybe a troll here or there, (of course though, I joined after the YGNR thing) and it seemed pretty calm. Could be wrong and I know many think this way, but in my opinion it was better before all this drama.
I'm totally sick of all of it. The forums are meant to be a place to discuss chess but instead they seem to be half troll threads and half actual discussion if you don't count off topic.
It seems people have forgotten what the forums really mean and the rules about posting. The forums are a sad toxic place. I got a bit toxic myself and had to be reminded about it, but others seem to forget.
Some clubs are trying, and from my perspective, failing, to resolve conflicts. They seem only to inflame ongoing conflicts or start new ones.
These forums are now known for their toxicity and general craziness. (No I haven't forgotten the moderators and staff, they do a pretty good job locking posts violating the ToS)
As usual something drama-related springs up. But this recent one hasn't gone away like the others seem to have. Instead, it's still here and driving new people away from the forums. It's become a popularity contest: who can get the most points, who is most recognized etc etc.
And then you have the "free diamond" and "make this the biggest forum post in chess.com" and all that other garbage. Thankfully it almost always gets locked or moved to off topic so nobody sees it on the "most recent" list.
Thing is, we can't fix the toxicity. It's simple: toxic people almost aways stay that way, and attract more toxicity. Mods try but it's like putting out a fire on the sun: impossible.
If you are going to get upset, please, please understand this ONE thing:
THIS THREAD IS MY OPINION. I AM NOT CALLING OUT ANYONE FOR WHAT THEY DID.

It's just terrible that you're being forced at gunpoint to read all of those toxic threads - It's just a cryin' shame...

My point being, you don't have to read those threads - Just don't read them. Problem solved.
