Karl loves to be ridiculed.

A kind of Stockholm Syndrome.

You aren't being reasonable, and continually saying you are and that it's 'up to the other person' won't make it so.  You're just suppressing discussion.  Account for your actions already!

Sure I'm being reasonable.  And yes I am blocking "discussions" of a certain type:  Flame wars!

BTW, I never said in my topics I was blocking anyone.  Not by name anyway.  To protect both their privacy and reps here.  Some went to other topics to complain I was doing so.  Why?  Is it that big a deal to you that I am blocking someone?  How does this hurt you?  If I was an unknown here, i bet you could care less that I block you.  Much less announce it to anyone.

You've provided no evidence of any flame war; you've just used this absurd threat to avoid accounting for your actions.  Of course I'm going to call out behaviour like that.  Man up, Karl!  Give us an argument rather than tedious excuses!

I just love how you put words in people's mouths.

That's not putting words in your mouth.  That was a thorough independent assessment by chess.com's most revered forum analyst.  Now apologize and thank him for not submitting a bill for his services.

NOT!

Just sayin'

"What, you don't like free speech here?  It matters to some here, why can't we talk about it?  We bothering you?"

That's a Karl original, from earlier today.  The guy is a true sack.

Don't complain about such negligible problems.

Karl, you don't know anything about the group; we joke around in there rather than in the forums, but whatever we may say, we don't plan anything there.  It has no bearing on anything that happens in here.

As for the idea of telling you what to do; well, from that it's clear that your reading comprehension is woeful.  Put an "if" in front of that paragraph.  Now what's wrong with it?

Finally, fine.  I apologize for going beyond the set boundaries of the forum and calling you a name, whether or not I think it's true, and however much evidence I theoretically may have had.  But can't you see someone's definition of rude and obnoxious behaviour may differ from yours, and may encompass much more than simply looking for personal attacks?  You've provided a paper-thin, illogical justification for your haughty "I don't need to explain myself to you" behaviour earlier.

Oh, not finally; what hijacking attempts?  They simply aren't there!

A summary of the posts in the first thread, which Karl claims hosted hijack attempts that I just couldn't comprehend;

#1: Karl suggests chess.com implement a system whereby users can play handicapped games (a fine idea, as far as I'm concerned)

#2: TheGrobe elaborates on the suggestion, with the idea of allowing any FEN string to be used in game creation

#3: Karl says he's just talking about creating a handicap game, evidently failing to comprehend TheGrobe's point (not a slight, but a statemen of act; being non-technical myself I had to re-read it a couple of times)

#4: TheGrobe clarifies, saying his point would cover Karl's idea and add more (fantastic, right?)

#5: artfizz, as is his wont, comes in and points to an earlier thread about handicaped games

#6: Karl thanks artfizz for his contribution

#7: artfizz finds another related thread, this time concerning team matches

#8: Caliphigia puts handicap matches into a more historical perspective

#9: starbuckss heartily endorses the idea

theoreticalboy

Karl, I understand you better now.  Thanks for elaborating.  Clearly we're done here.

theoreticalboy

I'm not going to post in any of your threads.  You can do whatever you want.

There is no way the Grobe's posts could be considered hi-jacking in any shape way or form whatsoever. If there ever was an example of posts that contribute to the topic at hand, that was it.

great post. we who follow these forums are faniliar with, and have grown accustomed to the fslse bravado spewed by the the haters among us who are unable to or unwilling to take responsability for the slander they post in the forums granted to us at chess.com. by reasons of the first ammendment granted to us in the constitution. we have the right to express our opinions so long as they don't infringe upon these same rights granted to others. let us not take these rights for granted. with rights come responsibilities which do no not include slandering opponents who have defeated you.or, delaying gsmes in which your position is hopeless. MAN UP!!! don't act like the typical " chess nerd " losing sorely to an inferior. imagine if professional athletes cried about the nuances and circumstances that excuse their poor performance. until this is realized chess players will have no one to blame, but themselves for the unprofessional and disrespectfull manner that their sport is percieved

Yeah.  Just imagine.

The more I go out the more encounters I have with rude people..... should I stop going out ?  One thing rude people do that really irritates me is when a couple of them will stand in a doorway talking and people have to use this doorway to leave/enter a business ....... then if you bump them trying to get by they look at you as though YOU are the one being rude!  I am not a small fella ..... maybe I should start knocking them down instead....  Wink

Did you try saying "Excuse Me!" first? That always works for me.

Did you try turning on your sense of humor first? That always works for me.

Yes, you don't understand that theGrobe's idea would be much harder to program for?  Sure it may be a more complete feature, but where do you get the FEN strings from?  I'm not sure what he is exactly talking about.  All we need is to be able to remove a piece from a basic start position for one player.  Seems that would be very simple to program and for players to understand and use.  Just click on the pawn(s) or piece(s) and remove them for one player.  Besides, this is just one example of a highjacked thread.  I've seen many here, didn't someone just complain about a topic they liked getting locked?  Others have got mine locked before, by starting senseless flame wars that have nothing at all to do with the topic.  Then they even call for the topic to be locked!  I don't want that any more in my topics.

It seems you really want me to release my block on you.  I will do so if you agree to behave in future topics of mine.  It's all I'm asking for.  And you can disagree all you want with mine or others' ideas, just no abusive actions, like personal attacks or making demands on others by telling them what to do.  I find it's very easy to be polite to members here and still have meaningful discussions.

This is why you blocked me?!

Wow.

Just wow.

orangehonda

Heh, I can understand blocking me (even if I don't agree Tongue out).

But blocking thegrobe is pretty out there... Laughing

TheGrobe

I stand by my "wow".

+1

Also I was quite amused by his "...just no abusive actions, like personal attacks or making demands on others by telling them what to do."

Because that was, as we all know, Karl's modus operandi in the the cheating forum which he got booted from--always trying to be forum sheriff and self-appointed hall monitor. I think he'd have to block himself if he were consistent lol.
