rudeness

What if...
Your opponent didn't find the game stimulating? Mostly when I win, I'm left with this thought; it was because my opponent played a lot worse than I did, thus he must be really terrible (in other words; it wasn't a good game at all)
Quit trying to tell everybody else what kind of acronyms they should and should not use. Internet abbreviations are... well... not exactly the colest thing in the world ever.
If you should decide to go into analysis instead, I'd be more than happy to talk, but that never happens, does it? The chat is used for what? Insults, psyching out opponents and... oh yes; typing "gg" when you've won. :P

I only get upset when very handsome players don't say gg to me.
So I promisse to say gg if I ever play with you.

I think saying "gg" is the same as the word bye sometimes. Would we meet a stranger and have a quick conversation with him/her, and not say "okay bye" or "have a good one/day"...just a quick closure ?
I say "gg" alot, because alot are..trophy if very stimulating, or I find the opponent very cordial and enjoyable to converse with, during the game. That, to me, is the best part of the chess game!
Its really depends on the person. I think anyone who has been on chess sites for very long and playing alot of strangers..AREN't going to fall apart if they don't hear it. :)

Suh-mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth, brutha.

yeah. by the standards of a chess site.

I'm still deciding whether 'the internet' is overall a 'good' or a 'bad' thing.
The jury is out.
All forms of media are bad because people can be rude on them and that's the medium's fault.
Aren't you enjoying posting your ideas? :) Gosh..some pll would call that a smart mouth comment, but I'm being sincere.
I say, "google it" so many times, because the only want to find out the answers is to get on the internet. The vast amount of information is worth being online!
However, I understand you saying what you did. Words cut ppl, and without the interactions being face to face, I think ppl are treated differently online, then they would face to face.
Maybe a 50/50 ratio what is harmful and good. IF I had a business online..I'd up that to 80/20 ratio.:) Just have to learn what to block out, just like TV shows.

I find 'gg' to be rather annoying myself unless it actually was a good game. If I have some hack win, and someone says 'gg', I wonder what game they were playing. I like it when people think before they speak. If you think the game was interesting, say thanks for the interesting game, or maybe just thank the other player for their time. I would rather someone not say anything than just copy/paste thoughtless letters at me.

I'm almost inclined to resent that.

I have never actually thought of it as a polite closure. That actually makes sense. I would certainly find it rude if someone left without a goodbye after a conversation and even after an otb chess game.
I can see why some will find it a bit rude if they do not receive a gg.

This topic never dies. Some insane people think they're entitled to a gg or a hi or a hot pocket (anthony :P)...and other sane people don't blink twice or even think about it at all.
Main thing is...if you're going to post on this topic, be ridiculously incensed and irrational. Write dramatically about it so that it's at least amusing.

Almost just isn't good enough :P

And don't forget the people who think "gg" is arrogance.

Being offered a "hot pocket" instead of the more honourable, "gg", I find to be offensive. Are they saying something about my I.Q.? What do pastries have to do with chess? It always looks like moms offer the "hot pockets" in commercials, so are they saying something about my mom?
