Ruth Haring: 'Girls are bad at chess'

Yet and still it's funny that several masters would recommend e4 but what do they know right? ...They are just WORLD Chess champions and grandmasters that would easily whip any of us,but sure ok buddy w/e you say!
1)e4 is a good move for beginners. It has a lot more of the basic opening principles behind it, i.e. control the center, castle quick, develope, connect rooks, etc. 1)d4 leads to a bit more complicated middle game, where although there are always tactics, a lot of the systems require positional play and a good understanding of the basics (to play them well). 1)d4 also leads to a lot of the indian and hypermodern defenses that go against a lot of the basic opening principles that we all learned when we first started out. 1)c4 or 1)Nf3 are transpositional/flank openings, and require some understanding of what systemes you're looking to play, and move order needs to be precise. So yes, chess masters the world over will recommend to a new player 1)e4 for the sake of getting familiar with the game. After a certain point, a players' first move of choice is a matter of preference, not a commital to any one dogma.
But, the statistics don't lie either. Check out other databases, not just the chess.com one, and you'll see the correlations.

Alright and your point is what? .....You just went through a very good explanation there of why e4 is good and compared to most masters, most of us here are "beginners". I have thousands of games under my belt but I am still a beginner,so yeah e4 is a pretty DAMN GOOD opening move. I'm not here to get into a debate with me and with all due respect sir, your statistics and all of that they will NOT change my mind.
And bobby fischer, nobody studied the game as much as he did,and he swore by e4 but you do what you want, just don't try and stuff your opinion and ideas etc down my throat. Some times in life, you agree to disagree and call it a day!

Oh and one more thing, you imply the move is good for beginners only really? but MOST grandmasters use it right? but what do they know, would you like them to play you one day and SHOW YOU WHY e4 is something that Fischer swore by? hmm? .............Come off of it!
Prudentia communicated a very simple idea in a calm manner. Why are you getting so heated over there? You have no reason to behave like you were anally annillated.
(I don't know if I should note that you have 7 more elo than me, and I have 10s of games under my belt as opposed the 1000s you're claiming...)

Mind your business I'm not talking to you,are you his lawyer? ..........why are you defending him and anally annillated? isn't it annihilated? At least learn how to spell before you insult someone and if you continue, you will be blocked and reported,so be careful!
You really shouldn't be saying anything like that on this site any way, that's kind of immature, now please leave me alone!

Yeah you are,so be careful ...........I'm not kidding or joke, leave me alone and learn how to spell while you're at it!

Guys are so cute. They're fabulous at chess.
Absolutely! And don't you love it when they're thinking really hard and they scrunch up their cute guy faces and lean way over the board? My girlfriend says that's the only reason she ever plays chess!

Right, because people should always sit in the most uncomfortable way possible to improve their results...

lol Yeah that is a little strange,I'm not caring about the other person and how they look when they think,I'm focused on the game! .....I don't play to lose!,I focus and concentrate hard most of the time but to each his/her own lol

Why can't we get a bit serious on this post,if you guys don't want to talk about the subject matter then maybe you should stay off the post?

Being good at snuggling is something everybody should be good at! And, Chess_Genius_1... You called me a 'he' several times in your last post. I'm a 'she.'

Remember: If anyone ever forgot you were a girl, you'd have nothing left.

Mersaphe,I'm sure most girls are better at cuddling/snuggling then they are at Chess, most but not all (Google Susan Polgar,Sophia Polgar and Judit Polgar, respectively). However how that is of any relavance to the topic of females being bad at Chess. I mean we're not even talking about Chess here,or maybe their thought process and why they are bad at Chess etc.
Prudentia,I don't remember even talking to you? ....However,I'll apologize if you're a female and I referred to you as "he". I don't know who's who and with all due respect to you, that's not exactly a name I'm familiar with so I can't tell if it's masculine or feminine.
Any way *sighs* ...What is your take on this, you're a female,do you think girls are bad at Chess? and if so,then why?

Has anyone done a PROPER statistical analysis to see how far women's (and girls') results deviate from the expected sampling bias?
By that, I mean: if there are (just inventing some numbers) 100,000 FIDE-rated male players and 5,000 FIDE-rated female players, what proportion of the TOP players should be female (and no, it isn't the obvious 5%).
That's not proper at all. If, say, 40% of the creatures in the ocean were fish, there's nothing to suggest that every subset in the ocean would have a 40% chance of being a fish.
If fish are 40% of the ocean, 40% of the largest species should be fish
If 99.99% of all life are insects, then 99.99% of the creatures in the ocean should be insects
See that?
Does she even bother with women's only tournaments? I'd imagine those would be child's play for her.
