Sarcasm is anger's ugly cousin, Sam.

"LORD, I understand that when I see only one set of footprints that you were carrying me. But what about these other prints? There is only one foot, some circles, and a line between them."

"Well, my son, sometimes I was a little busy, so I sent my one-legged pirate friend to push you around in a wheelbarrow."

So after a long and laborious nights rest, I have come to the following conclusion. Who are we to judge food items, each with their own story and worth. Instead, we should judge people. Everyone agrees?

+10  Tough Night, apparently.  Laughing

I've heard that the French think Americans have no clue what sarcasm is and that we generally display our stupidity by trying to do so.  Then again, they're French, and they're traditionally ethnocentric.

And major French Banks have not had access to LIBOR since @2008.

Now that dirty little secret is rather SCARY.

Here on Chess.com, there are people from all over the world, me being American, and therefore supremely sarcastic am usually inclined to believe some one is being sarcastic when they say something fairly stupid. But... Some people here are dead serious, and some just don't get sarcasm at all... (Typically not American)

One thing I find amusing is to read through threads and try to pick out sarcasm. See below:

Is this author being facetious? or does he really believe this stuff?

If you find a similar sarcastic/serious thread, post it here and we can vote on whether or not these guys are serious!

happy hunting!

I think in his first post he was being serious, but his posts later on were more sarcastic.

I'm also wonderng about the "Conclusions of my research" thread. I think the OP was being sarcastic toward the end. Or at least I hope so.

Typically, when context isn't present, which is often on the interweb, avoid sarcasm.

I have heard that Americans ask the question,"Why do they hate us?"

Nah.  We just wonder why folks like you go to the effort to rewrite the titles (and content) of your forum threads (to cover your mindless posts), then block us from commenting further on your idiocy.

Since that happened twice to me today (6/3/13).  I must congratulate you and your compatriot, the vapid @Reflectivist, on your joint efforts.

Apparently, you guys will bend over backwards to cover your inane tracks??

Great Thinking, Brainiac.  Smile

Yeah, we should totally avoid humor of any kind, because that makes things so much more fun.

Maybe your fondness for pancakes has put you through a lot. There's this story...

Footprints in the Sand             One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.              Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.                   In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.                        Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,                            other times there were one set of footprints.                                     This bothered me because I noticed                                 that during the low periods of my life,                              when I was suffering from                          anguish, sorrow or defeat,                      I could see only one set of footprints.             So I said to the Lord,       "You promised me Lord,          that if I followed you,              you would walk with me always.                    But I have noticed that during                           the most trying periods of my life                                  there have only been one                                        set of footprints in the sand.                                            Why, when I needed you most,                                           you have not been there for me?"                                    The Lord replied,                           "The times when you have                   seen only one set of footprints,           is when I went and had waffles"                                                    Mary Stevenson

that was beautiful...Cry

Yeah French people use sarcasms a lot like American people. But it's hard to tell if someone is serious when reading instead of hearing and also with people from different culture and/or with different native language (because of the difference in intonation I guess).

Not to mention pusillanimous.
