Are they the plague, am i still likely to find games lol? I had a decent beginner score, but i've lost a lot in a current tournament lol.

Basically i'm asking, how lowbie friendly is Chess.com?

We probably all play some games to improve our rating, and other games to improve our playing.

I wonder what a rating does for someone besides boost their ego...the real stat is your win/loss percentage.

wrong, one point of the rating system is that it accurately reflects your current skill unlike win loss ratio. i could lose a million games then start studying and get better but it would take me forever to overcome the million games in my win loss ratio, but with the elo rating system your rating would go up after your first win.

I think this link will answer your questions. You can see how many people are at what rating, the average person at this site is 1318.

I don't see how you came to that conclusion. I could win 100% of my games against players rated <1500. Would this make me better than someone rated 2500 with an 80% win ratio?
