Could I request all concerned to take their brians out of this topic please? It's beginning to get annoying.

#42. Deliberating misquoting.

#43: No chess.com purgatory where children and the childish are sequestered, where only they may post among themselves and not here in the adult forums, and after a set period of non-childish behavior there they are permitted to post in the adult forums again. This puts teeth in warnings, is easy to implement, and is relatively merciful and fair.

Why settle for chess.com purgatory when you can have forum hell?

To be outside the mercy of God is the definition of hell, so that's where folks like ouachita are, and that we've already got.

With purgatory we'd get to see some muted characters mentioned above behaving themselves (theoretically) and earning a place among the adults.

Forum feedback schemes (as cited in post#20) always have a certain appeal.

Perhaps there is also a place for a graduated response: blocking someone is the absolute sanction - whereas being able to block someone from the current topic might be sufficient - though clearly open to abuse. (A range of blocking options was discussed in this topic ... blocked).

People who, having clearly left the site, make another account to post in a topic, only to close said account a day or so later.
